Women arraigned for affray and assault

Ida Ngum, Isatou Jagne and Aja Ngum were on Wednesday arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court charged with affray and assaulting a police officer in the due execution of her duty.

They all admitted to count one, under which they were jointly charged.

The charge sheet on count one stated that the three accused persons, on 25 September 2012 at Latrikunda German in the Kanifing Municipality, fought at a public place.

Count two read that the 2nd accused person assaulted a police officer, Sub-Inspector Awa Sanneh-Bittaye, in due execution of her duty.

Prosecutor 3217 Camara applied for an adjournment to present the facts of the case.

The accused persons were each granted court bail of D10,000 with a Gambian surety.

The case was then adjourned to 8 October 2012, for facts and hearing.
