The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded in custody one Maimuna Badjie on a charge of infanticide.
Maimuna Badjie pleaded guilty to the charge, and was remanded in custody until 29 September 2011.
According to the charge sheet, on 27 August 2011 at Tallinding in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused person, Maimuna Badjie, delivered a baby, then dumped it in a toilet, and thereby committed an offence.
In a related development, one Sulayman Badjie was also remanded in custody by the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, after he admitted to burying the body of the baby without informing anyone.
The charge sheet stated that Sulayman Badjie, on 27 August 2011 at Tallinding in the Kanifing Municipality, excavated a toilet and removed the baby’s body, buried it without informing anyone, and thereby committed an offence.
He was remanded in custody until 29 September 2011.
