One Awa Bayo was
recently arraigned before Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court
charged with common assault and threatening violence.
She denied the charge and was granted court bail of D5,000 with a Gambian surety who must deposit an ID card.
The case was adjourned till 29 October 2015.
The charge sheet on count one stated that on 21 October 2015, at Serrekunda Market, in the Kanifing Municipality, she assaulted one Yessa Bayo by pouring 2.5 litres of cooked pepper all over her head.
Count two indicated that with intent to intimidate, insult and annoy the said Yessa Bayo, Awa threatened to kill her.
