Inspector Salifu Gindo Ceesay CID Station Officer at Wellingara Police Station was on Wednesday 8th July 2009, testified at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Mahoney in the ongoing criminal trial involving one Modou Barry who is standing trial of escaping from lawful custody.
In his evidence in chief, Inspector Ceesay told the court that, the accused was brought to his office on the 19th March 2009 in connection to house breaking and stealing. He told the court that the accused was verbally interrogated and confessed for committing the act.
He said the accused admitted stealing the generator and a Bumper bicycle with two metres together with two other accused persons. Inspector Ceesay told the court that the accused told them that the generator and the bicycle was in his possession. There he added, they went to Nemakunku with the accused to recover those items and the accused was put on handcuff. He said upon their arrival the accused ran away with the police handcuff, adding that after few days, the accused was arrested and brought to his office again in connection to a mobile theft. Inspector Ceesay said there the accused was cautioned and charged with the offence of escaping from lawful custody.
