Ba S. Jabbi, chairman of the Super Nawettan Organisation Committee, has said the super nawetan Organising Committee are not going to tolerate indiscipline in the 2016 Super Nawettan zonal football championship.

Jabbi was speaking to reporters during the 2016 Super nawetan draw held at the Gambia Football Secretariat in Kanifing Layout on Tuesday.

Jabbi said the Super Nawetan is the most fancied and most watched football tournament in The Gambia as it attracts many spectators more than any other football competitions in the country.

Jabbi said the previous championships witnessed series of indiscipline and violence, saying they need trouble-free super nawettan this year.

He appealed to the zones to maintain discipline during the tournament, saying that any zones that misbehave “will be punished”.

Jabbi revealed that they want to introduce third- and fourth-place matches this year, saying that semifinal and final will be played at the Independence Stadium.

He added that the reason they want to play the semifinal and final at the Independence Stadium is that many people bought tickets last year and could not enter into the mini stadiums to watch their teams play.

The Independence Stadium has the space to accommodate huge crowd, he said.

Pa Momodou Faal, secretary general of the Super Nawettan Organising Committee, in his remarks, said the 2016 Super Nawettan will get underway on Saturday 8 October and finish on 30 October 2016.

Faal urged the participating zones to maintain discipline during the tournament, adding that the tournament will last for three weeks.

For his part, Bakary B. Baldeh, Gambia Football Federation Media and Publicity officer, described Super Nawettan as the most watched football tournament in The Gambia, noting that many GFF officials always love to watch the tournament.
