Alagie Sey, the head coach of the Gambia Armed Forces, has said that the Military squad’s ambition was to collect the maximum points during their match against Samger but was contented with a goalless draw.
Sey, who guided Armed Forces to a famous league title two years ago with an impressive total of 44 points, speaking at the weekend at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium shortly after the match, said: "The game was well-contested with Armed Forces coming close to scoring but to no avail."
He added: "We have our own way of preparing for every game and we always give maximum respect to every opponent."
Sey, who is however aware of the strong task he faced against Samger, hailed Coach Jane Joof's young lads for their brilliant performance against the former champions, the Armed Forces.
Jane Joof, head coach of Samger, for his part, described the outcome of Saturday's result as fair while heaping praises on his young lads for what he described as their excellent job.
Joof also commended his players for sticking to his game plan.
"The game was a physical encounter because Armed Forces thought they could play more physical game than us but it was a different story," Jane stated.
He used the opportunity to cast blame on the central referee for disallowing what he claimed a clear goal his team scored but was ruled out for an offside.
