Wallidan, who lost to bitter-rivals Real De Banjul 1-0 in the all-Banjul derby game in the week-four fixtures at the weekend, knew that a defeat against Interior will dash their hopes of staying in the topflight as well their title ambition.
They dominated the game and caused some trouble in front of Interior’s goal mouth, before notching in a goal to bag the vital three points to their dreams of surviving in the premier tier next season.
Interior’s 1-0 defeat to Wallidan was their first crash since the start of the 2013-2014 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) division one league in January 2014.
Elsewhere, Gambia Ports Authority were held to a 1-all draw by newly-promoted side Banjul United in the all-Banjul derby game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
Interior are 4th position on the league table with 8 points in five games; Wallidan are 7th position with 6 points in five games; Banjul United are 5th position with 7 points in five games, and Gambia Ports Authority are 2nd from bottom with 3 points in five games.
