The draw of the 2008 West African Football Union[WAFU CUP] was held last Thursday 6 November 2008
in LagosNigeria.
16 West African countries were divided into groups of four.
Group A featured the hosts Nigeria,
Togo,
Benin
and Guinea-Bissau.Group B comprised The Gambia, Senegal,
Ghana
and Guinea Conakry. Group C consisted of Ivory
Coast, Burkina
Faso, Mauritania
and Sierra Leone
while Group D featured Mali,
Niger,
Liberia
and Cape Verde.
The tournament kicks-off on November 28thand will run to the 9thof December 2008
in Southern Delta State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The tournament was
organised to promote and develop football in West
Africa and also to foster unity and
understanding among the youth of West Africa.
