Musa Casa Taal, the President of The Gambia Volleyball Association (GVBA) has spoken about the plans and constraints faced by his association, ranging from the national league and forthcoming events.
Delving on the ongoing league, he said his association is still lobbying for sponsors for its National Volleyball League, which is expected to last for five months.
"Currently, we are scouting talents during the league to add on to the three professional volleyball players to prepare the National Volleyball Team for the forthcoming Zonal qualification which was deferred to take place from 2nd -7th August 2010 in Senegal," he stated.
According to him, plans are also underway for The Gambia's participation in that big event. He said by mid July the scouted players will come together for serious training.
"This preparation was well before but due to the late commencement of the National Volleyball League, the National Sports Council said that they cannot fund any association to go for international competition," said Cassa.
He said "now that The Gambia Volleyball Association is in full fledge aiming to showcase its talents in this forthcoming qualification we are targeting D210, 000 to cover the logistics for The Gambia to participate in the qualification," he concluded.
