The University of The Gambia Students’ Union (UTGSU) recently received a cheque for D100,000 from the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA).

UTGSU President Ansumana B. Bojang, who disclosed this magnanimous gesture of the nation’s gateway, said the donation is earmarked for improvement of the sanitary facilities of the different schools and faculties of the university.

“We are most humbled and grateful for the timely support,” Mr Bojang said.  “The efforts of GPA are recorded in history, and posterity shall judge them right. The entire university community is thankful.”

While calling on other institutions and organisations to follow suit, the UTGSU president noted that the GPA has over the years committed itself towards the development and consolidation of The Gambia’s human capital.

“A clear testimony of this is the Operation Promote Excellence in the Sciences initiative, which has already created huge impact on the lives of many underprivileged young people,” he said.
