UTG gives Miss Ambassador's award contestants

The University of The Gambia on Thursday 8th July presented certificates and prizes to contestants of the 2nd Edition of its Miss Ambassador Award and the fundraising committee of the Student Union of the University of the Gambia (UTGSU), at a ceremony held at the Gamcel head office in Kanifing.

The 2nd Edition of UTG's Miss Ambassador Award was sponsored by the national GSM operator Gamcel.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the President of University of The Gambia Students' Union (UTGSU), Ousman Boye Bojang, applauded Gamcel for sponsoring the 1st and 2nd editions, respectively.

He further revealed that Gamcel have in the past been assisting UTG and expressed hope that the company would continue to render more assistance to the UTG in years to come.

According to him, the University of The Gambia was established by an Act of Parliament in 1999, with the aim of bringing higher education to the doorsteps of every Gambians.

The Senior Marketing Officer of Gamcel, Madam Ramou Nyass Hydara, said Gamcel is proud to be associated with the UTG.

She pledged their continuous support to the university.

She advised the contestants to always work hard in order to attain their dreams and aspirations in life.

For her part, the winner of the 2010 University of the Gambia's 2nd Edition of Miss Ambassador Award, Miss Teneh Gitteh, expressed appreciation to Gamcel for supporting them to harness their potential.

As the winner Teneh Gitteh received a certificate and a cash prize of D20, 000, while Kadijatou Manneh received D15, 000 as the 1st runners-up, and Ramatoulie Jammeh received D10, 000 as the 2nd runners-up.
