Professor Mustapha I.A. Khalil, a professor of pathology, has been appointed as
the acting vice chancellor of the University of The Gambia, with effect from 15
June 2015.
In a statement, the University Governing Council said the appointment of Prof Khalil was “decided through executive directives”.
When his appointment is fully confirmed, Prof Khalil will be the successor of Prof Muhammadou M.O. Kah, who served as the vice chancellor from 2009 to March 2015.
Kah was relieved of his duties following completion of his tenure as the third and first Gambian vice chancellor of the UTG.
Similarly, Dr Omar Jah Jr is the substantive deputy vice chancellor, administration and finance.
He
was the one formally appointed to serve as acting vice chancellor when Prof Kah
immediately left.
