US Embassy To Hold AGOA Forum

The embassy of the United States of America in Banjul, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade will from 17th to 18th November hold a business forum at the Cocoa Beach Hotel, aimed at promoting trade and investment in The Gambia.

 Disclosing this at a press briefing held at the Kairaba Beach Hotel over the weekend, Ms. Tashawna Bethea, the Political, Economic and Commercial Officer at the United States Embassy in Banjul has said that the aim of the forum is to foster enterpreneurship that will help expand trade opportunities under African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA).

Madam Bethea explained that several resource persons, including heads of businesses have been invited to help the people, citizens and governments of The Gambia on market strategies that will attract market for Gambians committed to economic development with other partners in the USA.

"The forum will also accommodate discussions in particular areas of difficulties in creating fund for small projects, geared towards economic development and serving as a catalyst for opportunities to trade with U.S," she noted.

However, the forum is expected to bring together hundred participants from various working groups, both public and private sector in The Gambia, who will have the opportunity to meet with experts from the Economic Affairs at the USA Department of State representatives, regional foreign commercials service in Dakar, and representatives from USAID, as well as Government officials and private citizens in The Gambia.
