Unicorns humble Black Pool in West knockout

Unicorns FC on Tuesday beat Black Pool 1-0 in a keenly contested game in the ongoing Seaview-sponsored Serrekunda West knockout championship at the Serrekunda Mini-stadium.

Unicorns opened the scoring through Buba Chatty in the 51st minute of the game which proved to be a winner for Unicorns and got them through to the next round of the competition at the expense of their opponents Black Pool FC, who will hang their boots till next year.

Kebba Kebbeh of Unicorns and Abdoulie Drammeh of Black Pool were both sent off in the dying minute of the game after putting up some physical fight on the pitch. That left both sides playing with ten men before Unicorns could carry the day with a solid one-nil victory.

Speaking to Pointsport shortly after the game, Modou Badjie, head coach of Black Pool FC, thanked his players, saying he was impressed with the performance of his team but disappointed with the score-line.

Having lost the three points, he said he was disappointed with the behaviour of the fans, whom he tried to calm down to have a peaceful and trouble-free nawettan.

Dodou Kinteh, head coach of Unicorns, said he was impressed with the performance of his players whom he always encouraged to ensure they win and realise their objective of collecting the maximum points.

He added that Unicorns and Black Pool were brothers who need to love one another.

He expressed disappointment in the behaviour of the fans, who happened to engage in fight in the course of the game.

He as well urged his players to not creating any violence against their opponents Black Pool FC because they “are brothers”.

He could control his players on the pitch but not the fans outside, he said.
