The Headmistress of Rodmell Primary School in the UK, Mrs. Leanne Winterton, who is the link between Sir Dembo’s Nursery and Lower Basic School, located in Wellingara village and her UK school has had a fruitful discussion with the management of Sir Dembo’s Nursery and Lower Basic School in Wellingara.

Mrs. Leanne Winterton revealed that her school had raised money from the donation received from her students in Rodmell Primary School in the UK.

“During my school assemblies I show the pictures of the students of Sir Dembo’s Nursery and Lower Basic School to students. And from that picture, my students have shown interest to link with their Gambian counterparts,” Mrs. Winterton said.

According to Mrs. Winterton, her school has an enrolment of (64) students. She said it was the wish of her students to find out about the children at Sir Dembo’s Nursery and Lower Basic School in Wellingara.

She said when she returns to the UK she will find more sponsors for the school. As she puts it, it’s just a few in the UK who are sponsoring the school.

Mr. Assan Camara, the Headmaster of Sir Dembo’s Nursery and Lower Basic School in Wellingara, Region (2), said “this is the fourth time Mrs. Winterton  is visiting the school with Mr. Omar Jallow, who brought Mrs. Winterton to the school.” Mr. Camara thanked both Mrs. Winterton and Omar Jallow for coming to their aid.
