The Gambia National U-20 team continued their preparations ahead of their final round of the African U-20 qualifiers by beating the national U-17 team 4-1 in a friendly match played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Saturday courtesy of goals from Saikou Gassama, Omar Colley, Ebrima Camara and goal-hunter Buba Jallow, who could not stop scoring.
It all began well for the U-20 team with only two minutes played when midfield maestro Saihou Gassama put his side ahead with a solo-effort with left back Omar Colley adding the second in the 17th minute thanks to a wonderful teamwork.
Two great goals from Bakau United forward Ebrima Camara and outstanding Buba Jallow, aka ?Melez?, in the 25th and 33rd minutes respectively, were enough to complete a massive scoring advantage for the U-20 team.
The U-20 team, who recorded an impressive 4-1 aggregate win over Sierra Leone to progress to the final stage of the qualifiers, are ever closer to booking their place in the U-20 championship as they prepare for the weekend encounter in the qualifiers at home to Ivory Coast.
The U-17, who made several attempts to break the deadlock, could have scored but all their brilliant attacking options and some creativity in front of the goal were not good enough to earn them a happy outing. They only grabbed a consolation through Habibou Koroma four minutes from time.
