Two players namely Assan Jatta of Bakau and Omar Touray of Serekunda-East are both in contention to become the golden boot winner as the race for the Baby Muhammed Jammeh Perpetual Competition reaches its semi-final stage.
Jatta 24 who became previous winner for the award before securing a professional contract with the Belgian giants K. Lierse SK scored two decisive goals for the reigning champions, Bakau.
He netted his first goal in Bakau's hard-fought one-nil win against Gunjur at the Serekunda East-Mini-Stadium, a fortnight ago after capitalising on a perfect left booted lay-off by strike-partner and friend Pa Amadou Gai, widely known as Daddy who is still struggling on the sideline after picking up a muscle injury against Gunjur.
The former Scorpions' striker took his tally to two goals with a clinical first half finish as they settled for a one all draw against group mates and fellow title contender Serekunda-West at East-Park on Monday which saw both sides secured a place in the semi-final of the championship.
Assan's fellow contender for the award is Serrekunda East striker, Omar Touray who scored a brace in his side's embarrassing 4-nil humiliation of Brikama at the Box-Bar-Mini-stadium as part of the second game of the competition.
But the race for the award is still far from over as other strikers with only a single goal could be one of the real title contenders to win the accolade.
