Speaking to Pointsports on Monday, the Vice- Chairperson of Brufut Youth and Sports Committee, Mr. Abdoulie Manneh, said the tournament is organised in memory of late Pa Sulayman Federa, a former player for Kelefa FC and Young Stars FC who died at the training ground while training with his colleagues in 1993.
He revealed that the sponsors of the tournament were the friends to the late star that is why they have decided to sponsor the championship to keep his memory alive.
He further revealed that out of the 16 teams that take part in the championship 8 teams are now battling out for the trophy. He also noted that the date for the quarter-finals will be announced later.
