Two MFH Group employees charged with theft

Demba Ceesay and Omar Jallow, both employees of the MFH Group, were yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing by clerk or servant.

The charge sheet read that between April and May 2013, in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused persons by virtue of their employment at the MFH Group as marketing officers, jointly took goods and foodstuff like rice, biscuits, tomato paste, etc, worth D554,533.86 in the names of the following supermarkets: Marouns Kololi, Today’s Mini-market, Kebba Tamsir Njie Mini-Market, Right Choice Mini-market, Darda Mini-market, Albaraka Mini-market, Albaraka Enterprise, Geo Provision, Layal Mini-market, Bijilo Shopping Centre and Alvehag Mini-market, and sold it to unknown clients in the local market, and the money received was not paid back to the company.

They were each granted court bail of D500,000 with a Gambian surety each who must deposit an ID card.

Hearing was adjourned to 7 October 2013.
