Two arraigned for alleged burglary

Two men were recently arraigned before Magistrate Abeke of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with housebreaking and stealing.

Modou Ceesay and Mustapha Touray both denied the charges and each was granted court bail of D50,000 with two Gambian sureties.

According to the charge sheet on count one, on 5 July 2011, at Yarambamba Estate, the accused persons, Modou Ceesay and Mustapha Touray, entered into the dwelling house of one L.J Osini with intent to commit a felony.

The charge sheet on count two read that the two accused persons on the same date and place stole from one L.J Osini the following: 1 gas cylinder, electrical cable, adaptor, plastic plate, three boxes of tiles, electrical kettle, and 5kg of rice, all amounted to D7, 640.

Hearing continues on 15 August 2011.
