Tunisian national team players went through their first training session under head coach Faouzi Benzarti on Monday in Sousse.
Coach Benzarti indicated that the Carthage Eagles would face Gambia upon their return from their Abu Dhabi based training camp which begins on December 31st and runs till the 7th of January.
Meanwhile, Benzarti made it clear during his press conference that any players who were not physically fit enough to partake in the tournament could be replaced any time before he has to finalize his roster list.
European based elements of the side have yet to join the team and will be arriving in the coming days. Also missing were Club Africain trio Youssef Mouihbi, Zouhaier Dhaouadi, and Khaled Souissi who are all sidelined with injuries.
The first two underwent scans to determine the extent of their knocks and the team's medical staff will assess the results tomorrow to make a decision on whether or not each will be able to compete in Angola.
"I never finalized the list. Some of our players still have club matches in Europe and if any get injured we could make changes. Plus the tournament doesn?t start for us until the 13th and if any player gets hurt before then and won?t be ready to play then his health is more important and we'll replace him," he explained while speaking to Mosaique FM.
