It
is an inevitable end but rather difficult to come to term with, especially for
someone so dear to us. Sunday, 20th of November 2016 was a day we wished had
never been. Sadnews? And yet, a worthy
truism about such a natural phenomenon.
Our teacher and friend, Delphine E. S. Carrol (nee Macaulay) is dead!

ARROWS OF DEATH ENTERS
SHE
FELL BUT DID NOT FEAR
We
are tempted to sit down here to ask God, why? But the Lord gave and the Lord
has taken, blessed be the name of the Lord.
We
love you Delphine, but the Lord, your Creator, “Father”, “Aba” loves you far
more. You loved life and you lived it to
its fullest.
Delphine,
you took us unaware, we were not mentally prepared for your demise. That is probably why we have difficulty accepting
the truth that you are no more!
We
are consoled by the wise sayings “it matters not how a man die but how he
lived. Eternity does not terminate at
the time of death. Death is just another
rung of the ladder of eternity”. It is
only a gateway to eternity in heaven for teacher Delphine. Hers is the “resurrection” and not the
resurrection of damnation. Be assured
that she is fine where she is, in the bossom of the Lord.
Who
in reality is this Delphine? She was an
embodiment of altruism, love, generosity and humility. She was highly exalted, yet she impacted so
much on us your students, especially the 6th formers of your biology class,
1968/69/70. We are sure she would have
lost count of how many people she helped, encouraged and brought smiles and
happy moments to, especially the “care and love your extended, even to monitor
the development and well being for her past students”.
In
our long encounter with Delphine, she was found to be bluntly honest, she was
highly principled, a very intelligent scientist, trustworthy and
benevolent. These attributes knew no
bound as it extended to the immediate families, friends and beyond.
We
had fun, both in the classroom and well after our formative years – we cannot
easily forget, some of the various nick names such as ,” hydra, salamander,
chromosomes.”
Teacher,
our friend, we know that you are resting peacefully in the bosom of the Lord!
To
those you left behind, your children, grand children and other relatives, we
pray the good Lord to grant them all the heart to bear this great loss with
great fortitude.
Delphine,
Adieu! Adieu!! Adieu!!!
