Tigers FC on Wednesday defeated Old Jeshwang United by 4-1 to secure a semi-final place in the ongoing Serrekunda West Sports Organisation (SWESO) Nawetan competition played at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.
Tigers FC opened the score through Lamin Konteh in the 10th minute of the game from a powerful shot but Old Jeshwang United fought back and levelled the score four minutes later through skipper Omar Jarju.
Mustapha Jasseh put Tigers FC ahead in the 23rd minute of the game to give his side a 2-1 lead at half time.
Four minutes into the second period of the game, Abdou Ceesay made it 3-1 for Tigers. Skipper Omar Jarju missed a penalty for Old Jeshwang United midway into the second period of the game when Abdou Aziz Saine was brought down inside Tigers’ eighteen-yard box.
Musa Sanyang sealed the victory for Tigers in the dying minutes of the game from a sensible strike.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Baboucarr Jarju, assistant coach of Tigers, said he was delighted with the win, adding that they worked very hard for the game and knew they were going to win.
He also expressed confidence that they would win their coming games.
Abdoulie Sakis, head coach of Old Jeshwang United, began by expressing his disappointment at the score, adding that it was his players that did not show commitment during the game.
He added that his opponents played better during the game although they had only four days to prepare for the game.
