Three Players Face Suspension

Mariama Sowe Alias (Bom), the head coach of Interior, Sereh Jatta, a player of Interior FC and Kebba Manneh, an officer from Company Ten are all serving suspension, following their involvement in violence during and after the GFA Division One female league match, played at the Sea View Football Field, a fortnight ago.

The report from of the secretary of the female league, Sanna Jarju, has indicated that Kebba Manneh, an officer of Company Ten, assaulted the fourth referee when the verification on his player's licence, revealed that the surname on the match forms and the license did not tally.

At the end of the game, according to the chairman of the Female football, Dessamba Mbenga, one female supporter of Interior entered the field during the game and hit Maimuna Barry of Company Ten resulting in a serious fight between the two top teams in the female league recently.

The head coach of Interior Mariama Sowe, who also doubles as the Assistant Coach of the Gambia National Female Team scolded Maimuna Barry of Company Ten and slapped her under the watchful eyes of two 2 committee members who were trying to separate them.

Meanwhile, Sereh Jatta of Interior said the violence came at a time when she deliberately stood in front of the medics who were evacuating Miss Sylva of Company Ten who fell unconscious during the game.

Consequent upon this unsporting behaviour, the trio were sent off to serve two, three and four games suspension.
