Thief convicted

A magistrate court in Kanifing, presided over by magistrate Nying, recently convicted and sentenced one Modou Bah to a fine of D600, in default to serve two weeks imprisonment upon his own plea of guilty to a charge of theft.

According to the particulars of offence on 8th April 2010, at Pipeline in the Kanifing Municipality broke into the house of one Muhammed Lamin Sidibeh with intent to commit a felony.

In a separate development, the first prosecution witness, one Samba Jallow testified in a case against Muhammed Lamin Bojang, who was charged with attempt to commit a felony.

Testifying before the court, Samba Jallow told the court that he works as a watchman and that he recognised the accused, Muhammed Lamin Bojang.

He said on 27th April 2010, he was at a taxi garage when he saw the accused cutting ropes, and with the assistance of Baboucarr Jallow and Basiru Jallow, the accused was apprehended and taken to Kairaba Police Station where he made a statement.

The case was presided over by Magistrate Fatou Drammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.
