No nation, including The Gambia can achieve all her development aspirations without forging partnership and fostering cordial ties with other nations and development partners of the globe.
Development partners, such as the EU, AU, ECOWAS and UN play a critical role in the development of our dear country. And as such, we must nurture cordial relationship with these and other genuine development partners.
A poor tiny country like ours cannot afford to live in isolation since we have very limited resources to meet our developmental needs and aspirations.
During the last couple of years, the contribution of our development partners, including the EU has been visibly seen in almost all sectors of the economy, by all genuine and patriotic Gambians.
The support these partners have been rendering to the development of the country is still badly needed by the ordinary Gambians, who will feel the pinch of poverty without such assistance.
While it is a common knowledge that the country has development frameworks, such as Program for Accelerated Growth and Employment (PAGE), Vision 2020 and MDGs, it is also an open fact that at no point in time can we achieve these objectives without our development partners.
As the world is evolving to be a global village, no single country can afford to be alone. It is against this background that the UN in its eight MDGs has highlighted global partnership for development as its 8th MDG.
We, therefore, urge The Gambia government to constructively engage these partners and many others for the benefit of the country and her poor and innocent people.
