Taiwan reaches out to JFP

The Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan H.E Richard Shih on Monday May 3rd 2010, presented over two hundred wheelchairs to the Jammeh Foundation for Peace (JFP) through the Vice-President, Dr. Isatou Njie-Saidy.

Speaking at the occasion, the Taiwanese envoy described The Gambia and Taiwan as sisters and brothers, citing the presentation as a clear testimony of the relation.

According to him, the donation was made possible through the Taiwanese-based NGO, the Budish Charity Foundation. Monday's donation, he recalled, is a series of largesse to the JFP in recent times.

In response, the Vice-President and JFP Board Chairperson, Dr. Isatou Njie Saidy hailed Taiwan through Ambassador Shih for the kind donation. 

"The Republic of China on Taiwan has contributed immensely to the development of The Gambia."

Madam Njie Saidy assured Taiwan of The Gambia's unflinching support at the international arena.

Mr. Ardy Sarge, a board member of the foundation applauded the government and people of Taiwan for the gesture.

Sulayman Badjie, the Deputy Executive Director of JFP acknowledged the numerous supports the foundation had received from the Asian country, which he noted, cannot be quantified in monetary terms.

The ceremony was attended by the new CEO of JFP, Madam Nancy Njie.
