Principal Magistrate Basiru Mahoney of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one Momodou Bah by binding him over to keep the peace for a period of one year. He was also ordered to enter into recognizance to keep the peace and to be of good behavior for a period of one year and he would face a fine of D3000 if found in breach of the recognizance during the said period.
The convict in his plea of mitigation begged the court to temper justice with mercy as he regrets what he has done and also is willing to go back to his father's compound.
Principal Magistrate Mahoney told the court that he believed the convict had shown remorse for his action and also as a young man willing to go back to his father. He said he should be accorded a second chance.
It could be recalled that the convict Momodou Bah on 7th May 2009 at Brikama Fula-kunda with intent to intimidate or annoy, threatened to kill one Kemo Bah and his family with a cutlass.
