The
2016 FIBank-sponsored Super Nawettan zonal football tournament semifinal
matches are set for today, Tuesday 25 October 2016, at the Serrekunda East and
West grounds respectively.
As
part of the semifinal matches, Banjul will host Serrekunda East at the
Serrekunda West Mini Stadium at 4.30pm.
Banjul
held Serrekunda East to a 1-1 draw in the group phase, and will be striving to
beat Serrekunda East to advance to the final as well as keeping their chances
of clinching the 2016 FIBank-sponsored super Nawettan and also ending their
trophy drought.
Serrekunda
East were forced to a 1-1 draw by Banjul in the group stage, and will be
competing to beat Banjul to progress to the final following their elimination
in the semifinal by Sukuta last year.
Elsewhere,
Gunjur will play against Sukuta in the other semifinal game at the Serrekunda
West Mini Stadium on the same day.
Gunjur
will be hoping for revenge to advance to the final for the first time in their
history after losing to Sukuta 1-0 in the group stage as well as keeping their
hopes of landing their first-ever Super Nawettan title.
Sukuta,
on the other hand, beat Gunjur 1-0 in the group stage, and will be fighting to
beat Gunjur for the second time to sail to the final as well as boosting their
chances of winning the 2016 FIBank-sponsored Super Nawettan title after losing
to Serrekunda West in the final on penalties last year.
