Yurry Bah, a first prosecution witness, recently testified in the trial of one Alieu Bojang charged with robbery with violence, before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.

Bah told the court that he recognised the accused person and could recall what happened on 14 September 2010.

He said on the aforementioned date he was at his workplace at the Sunu-kerr shop, Serrekunda branch, when the accused came into the shop.

"The accused then attempted to open the counter but he could not and then stopped to look whether someone was seeing him," PW1 said.

According to him, the accused lifted a carton containing DVD player that was behind the door and went out with it through the back door of the shop.

He said he then asked the accused what he was doing in the shop and the accused told him he was just looking at the items in the shop.

Bah further adduced that when he approached the accused, he quickly put down the carton. He added that he subsequently gripped the accused, who pulled out a cutlass to hurt him. Bah said he then raised an alarm and his colleagues came to his aid.

According to him, the accused was apprehended and taken to Serrekunda Police Station, where he (Bah) made a statement about the incident at the shop.

He said the scene was later visited by a police officer.

The case, at that juncture, was adjourned till 2 November 2010.
