Student needs help to further his education

Nov 2, 2011, 1:28 PM | Article By: Lamin B. Darboe

Abdourahman K. Jallow, a newly promoted grade seven student of Giboro Kuta Upper Basic School in West Coast Region (2011/2012 academic year) is yet to commence his upper basic school due to financial constraints.

According to his mother, Kadijatou Barry, since Abdourahman completed his Lower Basic School in the 2010/2011 academic year, the young and determined student is still sitting at home not going to school for lack of financial support to continue his education.

“He could not continue his education due to financial problems,” said the mother.

“I am the breadwinner of the family because my husband is old and he cannot do physical work neither does he have any other source of income to pay the school fees of Abdourahman,” Kadijatou lamented.

She said that since the opening of schools in September 2011, she has done all she could to secure money for her son to pay his school fees but to no avail.

“My son has concern for his education and I can realise from him since the start of this school year that he is not the least comfortable as he always  sees his colleagues going to school every day,” Kadijatou said.

She said her son has very good track record of his education at lower basic school, noting that helping her son to continue his education at upper basic school would be highly appreciated.

Kadijatou said she would appreciate any kind of help that would make her son start his education at upper basic level.
