The prosecution yesterday tendered both the cautionary and voluntary statements of the first and second accused persons in the treason and sedition trial involving Dr Amadou Scattred Janneh and three others at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul.

Gibril Colley, a CID police officer, testified as the eighth prosecution witness (PW8) and told the court that he obtained both the voluntary and cautionary statements from the 1st and 2nd accused persons in the presence of an independent witness.

He stated that after reading the cautionary wording to the accused persons, they said they have understood and signed it and the independent witness also signed the statements.

The cautionary and voluntary statements were later tendered and marked as exhibits without any objection from the defence counsel.

The case continues today.
