State prosecutors on Wednesday announced that they were withdrawing an appeal they filed at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul against two former officers of the National Drug Enforcement Agency, NDEA.

Ebou Lowe and Eku PL Grant were recently acquitted and discharged by the Special Criminal Court in Banjul on a charge of murder.

The state then filed an appeal and applied for the two officers to be remanded in custody.

However, the court granted them bail of D2 million, each with two Gambian sureties with landed property within the Greater Banjul Area.

On Wednesday, the prosecution informed the court that they were withdrawing their appeal before the court against the two officers.

It would be recalled that the two officers, on 25th March 2011 at Bakau Sanchaba, allegedly beat one Cherno Alieu Suwareh, leading to his death, after Suwareh was suspected of being in possession of cannabis sativa.
