A 40ft container full to capacity with school furniture, hospital equipment, second-hand clothing, among others, was on Saturday distributed to various institutions across the country.
St. Georges Guilds in Denmark, in collaboration with the Gambia Boden Powel International Fellowship, donated the items to the beneficiaries, namely Kuntaur Major Health Centre, Aji Awa Bah Nursery School, Soma Skills Centre, just to name but a few.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Little Tree Skills Centre, the Project Co-ordinator, Pa Omar Bojang said the donation was made possible, through the efforts of retired Scouts in Denmark. He hailed the donors for their efforts.
Nfamara Sanyang of the Little Tree Skills Centre advised the benefactors to put the items into good use.
For her part, Madam Karim Bolsim, one of the brains behind the project expressed delight at the gesture.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Safie Bobb Jobe thanked the donors for the items. She promised that the items would be properly managed.
"As scouts we can only be retired but not tired," says Sirra Njie in a closing remark.
