The Gambia Secondary School Sports Association (GSSA), in collaboration with Scholar Athletes for Change, will organise a basketball tournament for upper basic and senior secondary schools in the Greater Banjul and the provinces in November and December 2010.
Alagie S. Darboe, secretary general of the GSSSA, told journalists at the association's triennial congress held on Saturday at the Regional Education office in Kanifing that the basketball championship was initiated and sponsored by Scholar Athletes for Change.
He added that last year they staged a basketball summer camp for schools in Greater Banjul, West Coast Region and the provinces.
He said the basketball games will be played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, Bansang and Farafenni.
"The association will also organise football coaching course in April 2011 in order to equip coaches with skills and techniques in coaching," he said.
He commended their partners - Trust Bank Gambia Limited and Coca-Cola Gambega Gambia Limited - for sponsoring the championships, saying he was optimistic that the two companies would continue to support the association.
