Lamin Kabba Bajo, president of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), has said sport is business and money.
Bajo was speaking to reporters after the West Coast Region inter-academy football tournament final between KGH Sports Football Academy of Lamin and Yarambamba Football Academy of New Yundum played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium at the weekend.
Sport is business and money, Bajo said, adding that sport has become one of the fastest ways of making people rich and prominent.
The GFF president also said the Federation is focusing more on grassroots football, as it targets schools, from where raw talents are emanating.
Academies are very vital in the development of football, as they recruit, nurture and groom young talented players, he said.
Bajo advised young players to be focused and continue to work hard to realise their aspirations in the near future.
He also urged them to maintain discipline in order to achieve their objectives.
“If you want to be like Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, JattoCeesay or Ebou Sillah you need to work hard in order to reach the level of those players in the near future,” the GFF boss pointed out.
