The handing-over of the educational materials was attended by the management of the two schools as well as the community of Bijilo.
Speaking in an interview with The Point shortly after the handing-over of the materials, Isatou Joof, deputy headmistress of Bijilo Lower Basic School, thanked the donors for the donation.
According to her, the donated materials would go a long way in complementing the work of the two schools.
She said Southlands High School has become friends with Bijilo since 1991and they have been helping the school since then.
Speaking on behalf of the donors, Sheila Bolam and her husband Keith Bolam from Southlands High School in the UK thanked the two schools and the community of Bijilo for their hospitality.
In these containers, we have got 40 watering barrels and these materials are given by the Lottery Club in the UK, she said.
They said some of the materials were donated by the World Charity for Education, the International Aid Charity and the Friends of Bijilo.
