The knockout final of the Serrekunda West Sports Organisation (SWESO) will be replayed tomorrow, Thursday, between Unicorns FC and Kanifing United after the first final played at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium on Sunday failed to produce a winner.

Kanifing United were a better side in the first period of the game by dominating most of the ball possession and also creating the upper-hand of chances.

The first clear chance of the game went to Kanifing United in the 12th minute of the game when Ablie Jallow had a powerful shot saved for a corner-kick by goalkeeper Omar Camara.

Five minutes later, Baba Conteh of Kanifing United struck the cross bar from a brilliant shot.

Dawda Ceesay opened the score-line for Kanifing United in the 19th minute of the game from a sensible strike after a brilliant combination with strike partner Aziz Mendy thus the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Kanifing United.

As action resumed in the second period of the game, Unicorns came very strong by dominating the midfield thus their effort part dividend in the 64th minute when Muhammed Camara levelled the score for them from a sensible finish after capitalizing on Assan Lowe’s cross thus the game ended 1-1 resulting in it being rescheduled for Thursday.

Speaking to reporter, Haji Tunkara, head coach of Kanifing United, said he was a bit disappointed with the result because his side dominated the first period of the game but allowed their opponents to seize the middle of the field in the second half of the game.

He added that his players lacked concentration in the second period of the game but they would prepare very well for the rescheduled final since they had the chance to play and know Unicorns.

Dodou Kinteh, head coach of Unicorns, said he was disappointed with the result, noting that their objective was to win but it was not a bad result as Kanifing United were able to contain them for the whole game.

He added that they came to the game to show that even though they are relegated from the Nawetan competition they do not deserve to be taken to that level.

“Kanifing United is a good side with a lot of individual talents,” he stated, adding that his side is better technically.

He also said they would go back and prepare well for the rescheduled game to ensure they carry the day.
