Sierre-Leone national discharged

Sulayman Kanu a Sierre-leone national was recently discharged by Magistrate Effim of the Brikama Magistrates' Court.

The prosecuting officer, Inspector Fadara earlier applied to withdraw the matter with the consent of the complainants who sworn to an affidavit to withdraw the matter as they are out of the jurisdiction.

In his ruling, Magistrate Efim told the court that after listening to the prosecution application that was supported by an affidavit, the court grand the application.

According to him, the court also considered that the offence allegedly committed by the accused was committed out of the jurisdiction.

It could be reccalled that, the accused, Sulayman Kanu, a Sierre leone national, some time in the year 2009, in abroad in the Republic of Sierre leone received the sum of one million, two hundred thousand and six hundred leon equivalent to one hundred and thirty-one thousand dalasis from the parent of Kadijatou Camara and Awa Camara with the promised of taking them to UK, which he knew to be false.
