Shop Keeper Testifies In Burglar Case

The trial of three suspects: Musa Jallow, Juma Sowe and Modou Jallow who are charged with conspiracy, shop breaking and stealing, recently commenced at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Fred Foster.

Testifying, the complainant Momodou Salieu Jallow told the court that he has a shop at Farababanta Village and on 14th July 2009, he was in the shop till 1am when he closed it and went to bed.

He testified that at around 4am, he woke up and found that some of his items were stolen and also discovered that the door to the shop was broken into. According to him, he decided to call the attention of his boss who later reported the matter to the police. He added that he led them to the third accused's house where they recovered some of the stolen items. Consequently, he said the accused persons were later arrested.

The Presiding Magistrate, Fred Foster gave a court bail to the third accused that was charged with only conspiracy in the sum of D20, 000, with two Gambian sureties.

Meanwhile, Musa Jallow and Juma Sowe were sentenced to six months in prison on count three, to which they pleaded guilty.
