Senegalese Woman Charged

Marie Joof, a Senegalese national was on 19th January 2009 arraigned before Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court charged with stealing from a dwelling house. She denied the charge.

According to the charge sheet, in the month of October 2008, at Fajara Golf Course the accused stole from a house belonging to Dr Siga Fatma Jagne gold earrings valued at D16,000, a wedding ring valued at D22,400, children's under wears valued at D575, children's shoes valued at D550, cash $200, makeup kits valued at D2500, three bottles of lime valued at D300, men's T-Shirts valued at D2000, 20CD cassettes valued at D8400 totalling D59,120, property of Dr Siga Fatma Jagne.

The accused was granted court bail on the deposition of D59,200 or the provision of a Gambian surety with landed property, the title deed of which should be deposited to the court.

The case was adjourned to 15th January 2009.
