Senegalese musician in town

Pape Toure Mbaay, a Senegalese musician, is currently in the country for a two-week visit. The purpose of his visit is to meet movers and shakers in the Gambian music industry to discuss the way forward in strengthening the music industry, as well as to promote his album.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment recently at The Point newsroom, Pape Toure said his visit to the Gambia is to promote his album entitled Baay Galass and also to meet with musicians and discuss a way forward for the development of music within the two countries.

The Senegalese musician informed Entertainment during the interview about the message contained in the album. Pape Toure Mbaay is popular for his particular musical genre which focuses on singing only the praises of Serigne Touba. Pape Toure mention his intention to use the soothing tempo of the spiritual music to better popularize the papers and the teachings of the son of Mame Diarra. The singer in dreadlocks is a true talibe.

According to him, it was in the middle of March 2009 when he released his first album called Baay Galaas. In this album of twelve tracks, the artiste recounts the life of Serigne Touba.
