Gambia senior national team head coach Tom Sainfiet, who has been monitoring Abdoulie Sanyang’s situation, was at the Sovereign Stadium on Friday as SK Lommel collect the maximum three points in a crucial encounter with SK Lokeren in Belgium second tier.
Tom,
who watched Abdoulie’s match for the second time intents to invite him for a
senior called up on an international break for a test game in March before CAF
reversed decision was to play AFCON in January instead of the summer as earlier
scheduled. This means Gambia will lock horns with Gabon for the two
leg-encounter in an Afcon Qualifiers in March 2020.
Abdoulie
Sanyang, alias Bambalie, who is enjoying his trade in the Belgium second tier
with Sk Lommel scored three goals and provides four assists. He played the full
90 in a crucial encounter with SK Lokeren in Belgium first division B 2nd stage
as Lommel won by a goal to nil.
Speaking
after the match, Abdoulie said he is very happy for the three points, though he
would have loved to be on the score sheet but the important thing was that they
have won.
He
said he was excited as Tom watches his side edge pass Lokeren to temporary top
the league table as Beershot will play in Saturday’s fixtures.
“This
is the second time the coach is watching my game. The first was when we lost to
Oud-Heverlee in the first half of the season,” he said, and added, “The coach
intents to invite me on a test match which would no longer stand as Gambia will
play Gabon on that international break in the AFCON Qualifiers.”
Meanwhile,
Bambalie is waiting to see what the future holds onto him as he is eager to
represent the national colour in no time soon.
Next
for Bambalie’s SK Lommel is an away trip to Stade Joseph Marien Stadium on 26
of January to face Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgium second tier.
