The reigning league and Super Cup champions Santos FC and Red Stars FC are through to the quarterfinal in the 2015 Gunjur Nawetan league competition after finishing top spot in group A and B respectively at the weekend.
Santos FC sailed to the quarterfinal after their goalless draw with Nyokoyorr in group A clash played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field on Saturday.
Nyokoyorr have two goals disallowed by the assistant as off-side, and draw has earned the Santos-based outfit top spot in group A with 7 points in three games after snatching two victories from Commit FC and Kajabang and one draw against Nyokoyorr at the weekend.
Nyokoyorr FC are currently occupying second place in group B with 4 points in two games with a game in hand against Commit FC, who are sitting third place in their group with zero point with two games in hand against Kajabang FC and Nyokoyorr FC.
Red Stars FC have advanced to the quarterfinal following their 1-0 win over Passamai in their final group B tie played on Sunday to finish first position in group B with 7 points in three outings after gripping wins against Oxford FC and Passamai and one draw against FC Halifax Town.
Elsewhere, whipping boys New Town beat Kulukochi United 1-0 in group D on Friday to land their first win in Gunjur summer biggest football fray after losing to Reliance Financial Services 3-1 in their opening group D game, a fortnight ago.
