The youths of Sanchaba Sulay Jobe recently elected a new committee tasked with the responsibility of coordinating all the activities and programmes of all the youths of Sanchaba Sulay Jobe village in Kombo North District of Western Region.
This development, among others, aims at assisting the youths of the village contribute in the development programmes of their village by working hand-in-hand with the Village Development Committee.
Speaking to this reporter, the Chairperson of Sanchaba Sulay Jobe Development Association, Mr. Alfusainey Gano said that capacity building training programme for young people of the village was organised for the new executive committee members so as to discuss issues affecting the development of the village.
According to Gano, Sanchaba Sulay Jobe has been the fastest developing town within Kombo North District and has hosted both local and national authorities.
He expressed the willingness of the youths of Sanchaba Sulay Jobe to contribute their quota towards complementing government's development policy objectives. He said that the programme is also funded by the youths of the community, who are also willing to undertake some development initiatives, namely building of youth centres, maintenance of feeder roads within the village, among others.
According to him, at the end of the programme they were able to commit all residents of Sanchaba, including Ministers, Permanent Secretaries to their development goals.
He said among them every one pledged to give a helping hand to community development, as part of nation-building.
Present at the youth forum were National Assembly Members for Kombo North District Hon Adama Cham, Sulayman Joof of Serekunda West, the Alkalo of Sanchaba Sulay Jobe and a cross section of the village elders.
