Sama’s assault ends Brikama Utd unbeaten run

Midfielder Babanding Sama’s second half strike has ended Brikama United unbeaten run in the 2015-2016 First-Eco Partners-sponsored Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league.

The Bakau giant killers beat Sateyba boys 1-0 in the week-eleven fixtures played at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium on Saturday.

Brikama United were unbeaten in ten league matches before their Saturday’s crunch fixture against Bakau giant killers Steve Biko.

The Bakau giants were beaten 1-0 by Gambia Armed Forces prior to their Saturday’s tricky fixture against Sateyba boys, who were unbeaten since start of the league in November.

Midfielder Babanding Sama scored the only goal for Steve Biko in the second half to finish Brikama United unbeaten run in the top flight.

Serrekunda United beat Gambia Armed Forces 1-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium to clinch their first victory in the top flight.

Yusupha Jones was on target for the Serrekunda-based outfit in the game.

Elsewhere, Bombada came twice from behind to draw 2-2 with Banjul United at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.

Defending league champions Gamtel thumped Samger 2-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Captain Modou Sarr gave Gamtel the lead in the 53rd minute of the game after a deadlock in the first half to give the telecommunication giants the lead.

Striker Yaya Ndong sealed victory for Gamtel in the 69th minute of the game to boost their chances of retaining their league crown.

Hawks defeated Wallidan 1-0 at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium, courtesy of midfielder Lamin Chatty.

Elsewhere, current league leaders Gambia Ports Authority drew goalless with Real De Banjul in the other week-eleven fixture played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.

Gambia Ports Authority are still topping the league with 23 points in eleven league matches; Brikama United are 2nd place with 18 points in eleven league matches, and Gambia Armed Forces are 3rd with 16 points in eleven games.

Steve Biko and Real De Banjul are 4th and 5th with 15 points each in eleven league matches, and Gamtel are 6th with 14 points in ten league matches with a game in hand against Serrekunda United set for Wednesday 24 February 2016, at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Wallidan are 7th with 13 points in ten league matches with a game in hand against Bombada fixed for Wednesday 24 February 2016, at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Samger and Hawks are 8th and 9th with 12 points each in eleven league matches and Banjul United are 10th with 8 points in eleven league matches.

Serrekunda United are 2nd place from bottom with 8 points in ten league matches with a game in hand against Gamtel billed for Wednesday 24 February 2016, at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Bombada are rooted at the bottom with 7 points in ten league matches with a game in hand against Gamtel slated for Wednesday 24 February 2016, at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.
