Rural Development Assistant holds training on water management

The Chief Executive Officer of Rural Development Association (RDA) has underscored the importance his association attaches to community empowerment in capacity development of Water and Garden Committee.

Jamu K.M. Ceesay was speaking in Farafenni recently at the end of a two-day capacity development training for communities to enhance water management and garden production.

The participants were drawn from beneficiary communities of Dutabullu, Chamen and Jumansar in the North Bank Region.

The training aims at building and strengthening the capacities of the committee members for effective and efficient management of the community water facilities and garden.

Ceesay noted that the intervention in the communities is to improve socio-economic development to support lives and ensure sustainable livelihood.

He called on the communities to be proactive in collaborating with village executive committees in promoting the sustenance of water facility and gardens.

The two-day training centered on roles and functions of executive members, record keeping, financial management and meter reading methods on public taps.

Lamin A.S. Marena, senior Community Development Assistant of Farafenni and Nyakassi Gassama of the Department of Water Resources, who led the trainers, lauded the efforts of RDA for their foresight in building the capacity of beneficiary communities on effective management of water facilities to enhance proper management of public taps.
