The Brikama Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate John Njie on Wednesday convicted and sentenced one Babucarr Manjang to two years in prison for escaping from lawful custody.
Mr Manjang was some time this year at Brikama police station said to have escaped while in custody by damaging the roof of the police station.
Following his plea of guilt to the charge, he was sentenced to two years in prison with hard labour, which is to serve out at the Janjanbureh prison in the Central River Region.
