Results of Gambia matches played at the Pepsi ICC-Africa WCL T20 Div 3 Tournament Africa 2012, Benoni, South Africa

Day 1

SEYCHELLES vs. GAMBIA

A keenly contested match between Seychelles and Gambia took place on the Sahara Park Willowmoore ‘A’ Field Seychelles won the toss and elected to Bat first and scored 122 for the loss of 6 wickets from their allotted 20 overs. Good contributions came from J. Ratnianake 24 runs of 46 balls and T. Horpinitch 23 runs of 19 balls. Gambia’s Aniru Conteh took 4 wickets for 23 runs and George Greywood 2 wickets for 24 runs in the Seychelles innings

In the second innings Gambia started fairly well being 62 runs for 4 wickets in the 11th over when K. Patel dismissed the lower order taking 3 wickets for 12 runs of his 4 overs. Gambia was all out for 90 with Moses Bahoum scoring 25 runs out of 23 balls played. Seychelles won by 32 runs.

GAMBIA vs. RWANDA

Later in the evening at the main oval of the Sahara Park Willowmoore Stadium, Gambia won the toss and elected to bat over the all hyped up Rwandans after their earlier win. Gambia scored 122 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs with Atish Yadav getting 64 runs. Gambia Aniru Conteh again took 3wickets for 18 runs.

Rwanda required 11 runs an over in the last 5 overs but fell short of the Gambia total by 12 runs. Rwanda scored 110 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.A. Kayitera 42 runs and S. Vardhineni 20 runs batted well in a losing cause. Best Bowling Figures for Rwanda: A. Kanunga 3wickets for 14 runs Gambia won a very exciting game.

GAMBIA WON BY 12 RUNS

Day 2

GAMBIA vs. MOROCCO

Morocco won the toss against the Gambians on Field B of the Sahara Park Willowmoore Stadium and sent Gambia to bat. The Gambians scored 119 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Top scorer on the Gambian side being Atish Yadav with 44 runs of 50 balls. The bowlers that took wickets for Gambia were Aniru Conteh taking 3 wickets for 29 runs and David Prince Johnson taking 3 wickets for 18 runs

In the second innings Morocco scored 84 runs all out in 18.1 overs. Best Bowling Figures Morocco: I. Kittam 2 wickets for 15 runs.

GAMBIA WON BY 35 RUNS

CAMEROON vs. GAMBIA

In one of the four afternoon matches of Day two, Cameroon faced Gambia on Field A of Sahara Park Willowmoore. Cameroon won the toss and sent Gambia into bat; Gambia scored 142 for the loss of 9 wickets. Gabriel Yagu Njie scored 30 runs off 21 balls and wickets takers were Prince Johnson 5wickets for 17runs and Atish Yadav 3wickets for 16runs.

Cameroon batted in their innings and scored 108runs with MR Ngueudam took 3 wickets for 20 runs.

Cameroon scoring 108 runs making Gambia winners by 34 runs.

GAMBIA WON BY 34 RUNS

Meanwhile Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Gambia Cricket Association (GCA) will be held on Saturday May 19th 2012 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau commencing at 4.00pm.

The relevant documents for the proceedings of the Annual General Meeting will be circulated in due course, according to Wilfred R. Riley Administrative Secretary of GCA.
