Reshuffle in diplomatic service

Reliable information reaching this paper has stated that the following have been nominated in the diplomatic service: Mrs. Marie Saine-Firdaus, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, has been nominated as The Gambia's ambassador to Cuba, replacing Mr. Pierre Tamba, Minister of Local Government and Lands. Mr. Omar Gibril Sallah, alias O.G. Sallah, the Permanent Secretary at the Personnel Management Office (PMO) has been nominated as The Gambia's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, covering Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, Oman and Islamic Conference. He replaces Lamin Kiti Jabang.

Mr. Mass Axi Gai, former Minister of Youth and Sports and current Assistant Secretary of the APRC bureau, has been nominated as The Gambia's ambassador to Guinea Bissau, replacing Momodou Sainey Badjie.

Mr. Dembo Badjie, The Gambia's High Commissioner to Sierra Leone since March 2004 has been transferred to Iran. Mr. Badjie replaces Lamin Kabba Bajo, Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources.

Mr. Momodou S. Kah, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture has been nominated as The Gambia's High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, covering Cote d'ivoire and Liberia.

Mr. Baboucarr Jallow, former Minister of Trade and Employment, is appointed as Deputy Chief of Mission at The Gambia's embassy in the United States of America.

In another development, Mrs. Nancy Njie, former Minister of Tourism and Culture, is appointed Executive Director of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace. She replaces Mr. Ansumana Jammeh, who is now The Gambia's ambassador to the Qatar.
